How to Use Soil Conditioner in my Garden?
Updated: Feb 8
So you've purchased some Clean & Green Organics' Soil Conditioner - (excellent choice by the way!) but need some guidance on how to use it in your garden?
Don't stress here's your all in one guide to applying Soil Conditioner in your garden!
Growing Fruit and Veggies
Whether you're starting from scratch or replanting existing garden beds, we recommend using Clean & Green Organics Soil Conditioner as your garden bed base to ensure strong root structure, enough soil aeration and proper drainage channels for your plants to grow healthy.
We recommend applying Clean & Green Organics Garden Mix on top to plant your selected fruit and veggies seeds in this! The combination of soil conditioner and garden mix provides the right balance of nutrients and minerals your soil and plants will need to flourish!
Fill new garden bed with Clean & Green Organics Soil Conditioner to a depth of 10cm.
Add Clean & Green Organics Garden Mix on top as much as needed.
Add seeds into your new soil.
Water thoroughly after initial planting and then regularly after that.
If you need a top up for existing beds, we still recommend applying Clean & Green Organics Soil Conditioner to the base of the bed, but if this cannot be achieved then apply Clean & Green Organics Top Dressing over your existing soil to revitalise plant and soil nutrient levels and ensure good drainage through the soil.
Improving Soil Structure & Health
Is your garden suffering from water logging? Or is it too compact or dry?
Are the pH levels out of whack and making your soil too acidic or too much like clay?
All of these issues can be resolved by using Clean & Green Organics Soil Conditioner as a top up or replacement soil depending on the complexity or intensity of the problem.
Water logging - Add Clean & Green Organics Soil Conditioner to your existing soil and mix in thoroughly. The dense organic matter in the soil conditioner will encourage worms to create drainage channels in the soil and reduce the risk of future water logging.
Compact soil - Break up the existing compact soil with a rake and add (or even replace) with Clean & Green Organics Soil Conditioner. The organic nature of soil conditioner enables it to aerate the soil efficiently and allow for oxygen and other microorganisms to enter the soil to support plant and root growth.
Dry soil - Adding Clean & Green Organics Soil Conditioner to your existing dry soil will ensure your garden retains the moisture it needs to flourish. Soil conditioner is naturally dense and has a high moisture content to maximise water retention without the risk of water logging.
pH adjustment - Replacing existing soil with Clean & Green Organics Soil Conditioner will naturally balance pH levels in your soil so that plants can grow to their best capacity and receive all the nutrients it requires.
